Establishing his accounting career with pedigree brewers Grand Metropolitan (now Diegeo), Andy learned his craft in the cutthroat corporate brewing industry where the integrity of numbers and the pursuit of profit go hand in hand.
Andy’s ambition was to run a business and so he eventually left to accept his first Board appointment as Commercial Director of Guilbert UK – a £300m turnover office products distributor, where he led the integration of six separate companies into one singular business – one of the largest change projects of its kind and underpinned by the implementation of world-leading software SAP. Following the successful integration and implementation, Andy left to take up his first position as Managing Director with a £230m IT distribution business.
Andy led this fast-paced, low-margin business to success and after several years of stability, left to transform the fortunes of several other companies in the office products industry.
Nearly ten years ago, a friend introduced Andy to the dental industry. He could immediately see that it was starved of commercial knowhow and the fundamental business principles and practices that underpin the success of corporates and he saw an opportunity to apply his knowledge in a new way.
Andy formed Spot On Business Planning (SOBP) with a mission to transform underperforming practices. By applying decades of strategic business planning, change management, business process re-engineering and leadership expertise, Andy assists dental practices to dramatically transform their financial performance.
Andy’s focused, structured and supportive approach is welcomed equally by practices looking to transform underperformance and those keen to maintain good results by introducing sound business methodologies.
Andy doesn’t just focus on the ‘how to’, he partners practices through the complete business planning cycle to successful implementation. Business owners and managers benefit in two distinct ways: from the improved financial performance his input generates – net profits are doubled every three years – and the enhanced commercial knowhow he indelibly leaves with owners and managers.
Andy is not a textbook consultant; he has 40 years knowledge of how to apply the knowledge in a practical way. That’s why he is different.
