Overview
This one-year, live patient dental implant course is designed for dentists who are new to implant dentistry or have limited implant or oral surgery experience and want to safely expand their clinical scope.
Delivered entirely in the UK, the Certificate in Dental Implantology combines foundational implant training with hands-on practical learning and supervised live patient experience. Across 16 modules, you will develop your knowledge and skills in patient assessment, case selection, treatment planning, implant placement and restoration, with a strong focus on evidence-based, predictable outcomes.
The programme is designed to give you a strong foundation in implant dentistry while developing the clinical judgement and practical experience needed to begin integrating implant treatment into everyday practice.

Structure and learning experience
The course is delivered across 16 in-person modules over 12 months, combining seminars, hands-on practical sessions and supervised live patient training.
The first stage of the programme develops your foundations in implant dentistry, covering implant sciences, patient assessment and treatment planning, surgical and restorative techniques, alongside dedicated Level 1 and Level 2 CBCT training to strengthen your diagnostic and treatment-planning skills.
You will then progress to 8 live patient sessions, where you can place and restore implants on your own suitable patients under the supervision of experienced implant mentors. This allows you to apply what you have learned to real clinical cases while receiving guidance throughout the treatment journey.
Learning extends beyond the scheduled modules through ongoing mentorship opportunities, additional patient days and in-practice support, helping you continue developing your skills and experience as you introduce implant dentistry into your own practice.
Clinical focus and outcomes
Clinical training focuses on appropriate patient and case selection, restoratively driven treatment planning, CBCT and digital planning, surgical preparation and safe implant placement.
You will develop practical skills in surgical setup, anaesthesia, incision and flap design, drilling protocols, implant placement and suturing, alongside the restorative principles required to plan and restore implant cases predictably.
Through practical exercises and supervised live patient treatment, you will learn to approach implant cases systematically, recognise cases appropriate to your level of experience and understand when additional support or referral may be required.
By the end of the programme, you will have developed a stronger foundation in both the surgical and restorative aspects of implant dentistry, with the clinical knowledge, practical experience and ongoing mentorship to continue building your implant practice safely and progressively.

Certificate options
Level 7 Certificate
To achieve the EduQual Level 7 qualification, participants must complete a series of assessments, including Direct Observation of Performance (DOPS), a CBCT write up, 6 patient case presentations and a multiple-choice exam on the final day of the course.
On successful completion of the course and all required assessments, participants are awarded a Level 7 Certificate in Dental Implantology approved by EduQual. Tipton Training is also accredited by The Royal College of Surgeons of England. RCSEng centre accreditation is recognised as a mark of excellence, and we are proud to be the first and only private training provider to hold this distinction.

Non-Level 7 Certificate
Participants who choose not to pursue the Level 7 qualification may enrol on the non-Level 7 pathway.
This option does not require completion of the formal assessments. Instead, participants receive a Tipton Training Academy Certificate of Attendance accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. This pathway does not confer a Level 7 qualification from EduQual.
