Overview
The ORE Part 2 Preparation Course is a clinically focused programme designed for overseas dentists who have already passed ORE Part 1 and are now preparing for the practical component of the GDC registration exam. ORE Part 2 assesses your ability to perform dental procedures safely and effectively under exam conditions, interpret clinical cases, communicate with patients and develop comprehensive treatment plans. This intensive six-day preparation course combines essential theory with hands-on practical training, providing a structured learning experience that builds both the clinical skills and confidence required to succeed.
Structure and learning experience
The programme is delivered over six days and follows a carefully structured pathway. The first three days focus on the theoretical aspects of the examination, including OSCE preparation, communication skills, diagnosis, treatment planning and clinical reasoning using exam-style scenarios. These sessions provide delegates with a clear understanding of the exam format and assessment criteria while developing the decision-making skills required for success.
The final three days are dedicated to intensive manikin (phantom head) training, where delegates gain practical experience performing the clinical procedures assessed in the examination. Under the guidance of experienced tutors, participants refine their operative techniques, receive personalised feedback and practise in an environment designed to closely replicate the ORE Part 2 exam. Live, face-to-face teaching is supported by guided review sessions and revision resources to reinforce learning throughout the programme.
Clinical focus and outcomes
The course is designed to mirror the practical demands of the ORE Part 2 examination. Delegates develop confidence in operative dentistry through hands-on manikin training while strengthening their diagnostic, communication and treatment planning skills during the theory component. Throughout the programme, emphasis is placed on working safely, efficiently and confidently under exam conditions. By the end of the course, delegates will have enhanced their clinical reasoning, operative ability, patient management and decision-making skills, ensuring they are well prepared for every aspect of the ORE Part 2 assessment.
Qualification Pathways
This preparation course forms the second stage of Tipton Training's overseas dentist pathway towards UK registration. Following successful completion of the ORE Part 2 examination, candidates are eligible to apply for full registration with the General Dental Council (GDC), enabling them to practise dentistry in the UK. Many delegates subsequently progress to postgraduate clinical qualifications with Tipton Training to further develop their skills and advance their careers.
