Course Overview

The PG Certification in Advanced Dental Implantology  is a live patient course and delegates will treat patients under supervision during the course. However, the course will also include hands-on days on advanced plastic model to practice more advanced Implant treatment. The course consists of 5 units over 12 days in form of seminars, practical and live surgical sessions on your patients, spread over 12 months. This course provides an opportunity to develop a strong understanding about advance topics such as Sinus Lifts, Bone Grafts, Ridge Splits, Soft and Hard tissue management.

Together with Dr. Goran Urde and Dr. Paul Tipton, this course offers the opportunity to interact with and learn from additional internationally renowned faculty. This includes:

Unit 1: Tooth Now & Immediate Loading Concept of Single Tooth Implant

  • Learning Outcome 1: Demonstrate an Understanding of Essential Science knowledge as it applies to tooth now and Immediate loading concept of Single tooth implant

Unit 2: Treatment of severely resorbed jaw using Sinus lifts, Bone Grafting and Ridge Splitting

  • Learning Outcome 1: Apply appropriate Surgical and Restorative techniques in relation to the maxillary sinus, sinus lifts and sinus management.
  • Learning Outcome 2: Explain and evaluate the requirements of successful treatment planning for the Atrophic Ridge.

Unit 3: Implant Aesthetics including Soft and Hard tissue management

  • Learning Outcome 1: Critically evaluate the techniques available to support the success of Hard & Soft Tissue management
  • Learning Outcome 2: Anterior aesthetics for implant restorations

Unit 4: Occlusion and the restorative aspects for complex cases

  • Learning Outcome 1: Demonstrate understanding of essential restorative techniques as they apply to Implant Dentistry Patients with emphasis on Occlusion
  • Learning Outcome 2: Evaluate the essential factors relating to full arch reconstruction with Nordic Bridge/All on four/teeth in an hour/ Zygomatic
  • Implants or Angled Implant placements to avoid vital structures.
  • Learning Outcome 3: Demonstrate an understanding of techniques how to treat edentulous patients with Over dentures
  • Learning Outcome 4: Demonstrate an understanding of techniques to combine implants and teeth to manage compromised treatments and still provide predictable restorations

Unit 5: Complications in Implant Treatments - how to avoid and how to manage

  • Learning Outcome 1: Critically evaluate techniques to avoid and manage Rare complication in Implant cases
  • Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate an understanding of Orofacial Pain and Jaw function
  • Learning Outcome 3: Critically evaluate techniques to avoid and manage common and rare complications in Implant cases

Professor Per Vult von Steyern

Professor Per Vult von Steyern is Doctor of Odontology and chair of the Department of Materials Science and Technology, Faculty of Odontology, Malmö University, Sweden. He is chairman of the Future dental clinic (Futurumkliniken), a licensed specialist in Prosthodontics and researcher with Dental ceramics as his main research field.

He is an internationally recognized lecturer and was 2013 awarded the Swedish Dental Association price for “Best lecturer”. He has published several scientific papers in international scientific journals and several textbook chapters. 2015 he received the Swedish Dental Associations award for the best overview article of the year (2014). He is, furthermore, president of the Scandinavian Society for Prosthetic Dentistry and Swedish Dental Society.

Professor Andreas Stavropoulos

Andreas Stavropoulos (AS) after having studied dentistry in Heidelberg, Germany, and Thessaloniki and Athens, Greece, he worked a few years in private practice limited to periodontics and implant dentistry. AS joined then the dept. of Periodontology, Aarhus University, Denmark, for postgraduate training, where he also received his Ph.D. in 2002 and his dr.odont. degree in 2011, based on preclinical and clinical studies on regenerative periodontal therapy and in association with dental implants.

In 2013, AS joined Malmö University as the Professor and Chair in the dept. of Periodontology. AS has received several awards for his research, including the 1st Basic Research Prize of the European Association of Osseointegration (2011) and the Straumann Award in Regenerative Periodontal Medicine, conferred by the IADR (2013). He has authored several publications in international peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, and he is member of several Editorial Boards. AS is currently the President of the Periodontal Resarch Group of IADR.

Professor Jonas Peter Becktor

Jonas Peter Becktor, DDS, PhD (medicine doctor) gradated in dentistry for the University of Lund, Sweden in 1988, received his specialist degree in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 2001 at the Maxillofacial Unit, Halmstead Hospital and he defended his PhD thesis; ”On Factors Influencing the Outcome of Various Methods Using Endosseous Implants for Reconstruction of the Atrophic Edentulous and Partially Dentate Maxilla” at the University of Gothenburg in 2006.

Becktor worked as a researcher and visiting professor/clinician at the Departments in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Loma Linda University and Mayo Clinic in the USA in 2000 and 2001. Becktor worked as an Oral & Maxillofacial Consultant at the Royal University Hospital, Rigshospitalet, University of Copenhagen and at the Maxillofacial Unit, Halmstad Hospital in 2001-2011 and is since 2012, an Associated Professor (Docent), Consultant and the Head of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Medicine at the University of Malmö, Sweden. Becktor’s main research interest is advanced implant surgery including bone grafting methods.
