The Tipton Operative course has given me the skills and techniques to provide high quality private dentistry to my patients. Case acceptance is up and treatment is predictable. Everyone performing dentistry on a day to day basis should take this course!
- A Young, 2017

I had heard positive reviews of Tipton training and I decided to book on to the Operative Course as the timing was great. Since starting the course the benefits were so quickly achieved that I also joined the year long Restorative course and I have found that both compliment each other really well. I feel more confident putting my new knowledge and skills into practice and taking on more complex treatments which I previously may not have tackled.
- A McIntyre, 2017

Prof Paul Tipton and his team are excellent teachers and I found them to be very inspiring, confident and experienced clinicians. We were taught all the types of prosthetic restorations which were carefully supervised and corrected if necessary. We covered a good range of cases and there were never-ending opportunities to learn more. Great location, excellent dental materials to work with and a very helpful team. Overall a great course, thank you very much.
- C Ureche, 2017

If you have any fears regarding the sale of private work and you want to improve your efficiency, practical skills, reduce stress at work and finally increase your satisfaction in what you do ...You should attend a Tipton Training course.

How much practical work is involved?

This course days are 100% practical. To compliment this, we do supply webinars to watch prior to course days and prepare you for the day.

How many days are involved?

This is a 12 day course with 10 face to face days and 2 days of e-learning through webinars conducted by Professor Tipton. Some work will be required in doing reflective write-ups in your own practice.

Do I get to treat patients?

Unfortunately not. Phantom heads will be used throughout these course days.

I am interested in Crown preps and composites will I be taught on this?

Yes. You will be taught how to prepare anterior, premolar and molar bonded crowns, dentine bonded crowns, gold crown and all ceramic crowns. You will also be taught posts, inlays onlays, bridges and veneers along with composite veneers and posterior composites.

Are there any lectures before the hands on?

We do not routinely have lectures on the day, but if delegates would like advice on a particular point or topic our lecturers/demonstrators would be more than willing to assist.

How long will I have access to the webinars for?

You will have access to the webinars throughout the course and for 6 months after your final course day.

How many teachers to each delegate helping on the day?

We try to maintain a 1 demonstrator to 8 delegates ratio.

I am confused about which course will suit be best. Can you tell me the difference between the Restorative and Phantom Head course?

The PG Certificate in Restorative Dentistry is a more theoretical course with 6 full days on occlusion. Other topics include Posts, Porcelain Veneers, Bridge Design, Endodontics, Periodontics & Minimal Invasive Dentistry. The PG Certificate in Operative Dentistry has 10 face-to-face days which are 100% practical, intense hands-on training working on Phantom Heads to improve your tooth preparation skills. It all depends on your experience and comfort level with Occlusion, Treatment Planning and tooth preparation techniques. The courses complement each other perfectly. We have had some delegates who join one course and then join the other immediately after. Should you plan to complete both courses we suggest doing the PG Diploma in Prosthodontics and taking advantage of 30 months interest free finance. You can complete the PG Diploma in 18 months. In addition to the added clinical skills and treatment advantages, you will also save 6% on fees by enrolling straight onto the Diploma. If you initially only want to enrol on one course, the ideal pathway would be to begin with the PG Certificate in Restorative Dentistry and then follow on with the PG Certificate in Operative Dentistry.

Are there any additional course costs?

On the Bonded Crown Day (Unit 1) after delegates have done their tooth preparation, they take impressions and have the crowns prepared by their own laboratory at their own cost. They then bring in the crowns onto the next course day and a lecturer will critique the crown. The reason for this exercise is based on our belief that being able to deliver high quality treatment requires close coordination between the dentist and their dental laboratory. A dentist needs to understand how the Dental laboratory works, what information is provided to them and the quality of product the dentist is receiving from their laboratory. Loupes are advisable on all course days to reduce strain and fatigue and improve your performance on the course as well in surgery. Our dental partners Orascoptic will be present on most course days, should you wish to try them on the course. Orascoptic offer discounted prices on loupes to Tipton Training Delegates.

What is covered in the course fees?

We provide you with a copy of the upper and lower stone models of Prof. Tipton’s tooth preparations. This is a copy for the delegates to keep as reference for the tooth preparations they want to do on the course day. Also included, for use on the course day is a ‘Tooth Preparation Kit’ which includes Upper and Lower Kavo models, a set of burs and all the teeth you require for the course day. The kit is retained by Tipton Training at the end of the each course day. A light lunch and refreshments will be available. Whilst we try to accommodate any dietary requirements, we cannot always guarantee.
