Course Overview

This 4-day course is tailored for Dental Therapists as well as International Dental Graduates who are registered as Dental Therapists with the GDC in the UK.

It aims to equip dental therapists with the necessary knowledge and practical skills needed to excel within the dental therapist scope of practice in the UK, particularly within the NHS system. This course is designed to help dental therapists meet the new proposals set by the General Dental Council. As the landscape evolves, dental therapists must stay ahead of the curve and enhance their skills to provide optimal patient care.

The course serves as a pathway for dental therapists to enhance their skills and expertise, covering operative procedures, paediatric practical learning, and navigating the UK healthcare system’s scope of practice.

Module 1: Scope of Practice for Dental Therapists in the UK

Module 2: Restorative Dentistry

Master the art of restoring teeth with precision and skill as we guide you through the tips and tricks of this procedure. From mastering the techniques to understanding the science behind it, our course will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to excel in amalgam and composite fillings.

Amalgam and Modern Alternative Fillings:

Our course will help you manage conditions such as gingivitis, periodontitis, and other gum diseases that can lead to tooth loss if left untreated.

Module 3: Anterior and Posterior Composite Restorations

Explore the latest techniques and trends in aesthetic dentistry. Let us show you how to transform smiles and boost confidence with our expert guidance and hands-on practice. Delegates will gain practical experience in achieving stable and aesthetic restorations.

  • Understanding tooth anatomy is crucial for achieving aesthetic teeth, leading to a more aesthetically pleasing result for the patient.
  • Colour theory, including principles such as hue, value, and chroma, allows dental professionals to accurately match the shade of the composite material to the patient's natural tooth colour.
  • Isolation techniques, are critical for composite adhesion as it ensures a clean and dry environment for the bonding process. Proper isolation prevents contamination from saliva, blood, or other fluids, which can compromise the bond strength of the composite material to the tooth structure.

Module 4: Paediatric Dentistry

Delegates engage in practical sessions on deciduous tooth procedures and Stainless Steel Crown placement.
