Dr Adam Toft is a highly accomplished dental clinician, educator, and mentor with over 30 years of experience in restorative, aesthetic, and orthodontic dentistry. He holds a BDS with Honours from the University of Sheffield, following an earlier Honours degree in Chemistry, and has continually expanded his clinical and academic expertise through postgraduate qualifications including an MMedSci in Restorative Dentistry, the MFGDP(UK), an Honorary Diploma in Aesthetic Dentistry, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. He is also a Founding Fellow of the British Association of Restorative Dentistry (BARD).
As Principal of Cavendish Dental Care in Chesterfield since 1998, Dr Toft leads a well-respected multidisciplinary practice known for ethical, patient-centred care. He combines general dentistry with advanced clinical work in complex restorative cases and full-mouth rehabilitations, including collaborative treatments at the T-Clinic in Manchester alongside Professor Paul Tipton.
Education and mentorship lie at the heart of Dr Toft’s professional ethos. As Clinical Director of Tipton Training’s flagship Restorative Dentistry course, he leads the ongoing design, delivery, and development of the programme—ensuring it reflects the latest clinical advancements and educational best practices. Tipton Training is the UK’s largest and most respected private postgraduate dental training provider, having educated over 5,000 dentists globally across more than 30 years. Since joining the faculty in 2010, Dr Toft has been a key figure in shaping and delivering its restorative, aesthetic, and operative dentistry programmes both nationally and internationally. His teaching is widely recognised for its clarity, precision, and practical, evidence-based approach.
He has also served as a Clinical Tutor at Sheffield’s Charles Clifford Dental Hospital and was an Educational Supervisor for over 15 years, mentoring newly qualified dentists through their foundation training years.
Dr Toft’s dedication to advancing the profession is reflected in his affiliations with the BDA, FGDP, BACD, and BARD. He is widely recognised for his attention to detail, approachable style, and deep commitment to continuous improvement—qualities that resonate in both his clinical and educational work.
Outside of dentistry, Adam values the importance of wellbeing and balance. He maintains an active lifestyle through cycling, yoga, and regular fitness training, and enjoys spending quality time with his two sons.
