There is a saying that “when the student is ready, the teacher appears” and that first one and a half hours where Professor Tipton gave us a stirring pep talk and taught occlusion in the best way I have ever encountered blew our minds.
I spent a year mulling over what postgraduate course to take as my career had flatlined and passion for dentistry had gone after a few tough years. However only we can lift ourselves from the mire and after studying the website and trusting the fair number of dentists who had gone through the course before me, my heart was fully set on the Restorative course.

In that half a morning I had learnt and made more notes than on whole days of CPD.
Dentistry can be dispiriting for a myriad of reasons and it’s not constructive to dwell on these but due to the knowledge and thought processes fostered by the course you will harness a better attitude with more of a sense of belonging in The profession and enjoy your work more. Full mouth rehabilitation cases are not so daunting and the rock solid foundations give you the belief that your restorations will last be them single or multiple. This is due to the strong scientific basis and article list on which the teaching is based and this is how dentistry, which in my opinion should be treated as a precise science, should be taught.
I am not one to boast but I have definitely recouped the course fees with ease and this is just the start. You start to think and behave like a formidable restorative dentist and everyone will benefit-your patients and you and those closest because to love your job is a right not a privilege or least it should be.
Winning the award has been my proudest moment in dentistry and I’ll cherish it forever.
I cannot recommend the course to anyone enough, it has easily been my best learning experience in dentistry and life changing as a result. Lasting, aesthetic and life changing dentistry with an impregnable scientific basis will result. It’s the unanimous opinion of my fellow restorative year alumni and myself that Professor Tipton is one of the best if not the best dental educators out there and I urge any dentist who wants to take their dentistry to the top tier start the Restorative course.
